Sunday, Aug. 30 we had a fire start here in Oak Glen on Pisgah Peak. By Sunday night they went door to dorr with a mandatory evacuation notice. We opted to stay and so I was able to get some interesting photos of the fire and the action around it. We're on the mountain opposite of the fire so aren't in immediate danger. The fire on the ridge is getting under control. There's still some hot spots that flare up but there have been plenty of planes and helicopters making water and retardant drops. Also, there are ground crews that have been working almost non stop making fire breaks.

My husband tried going out to get to work today and they said they won't let him back in if he leaves. So, I guess we're still in evacuation mode. I have all the important papers, photos, my art, cameras, etc. waiting adnready in case things make a turn for the worse and we have to leave. So far, though, we've been safe.

Well, a few of you might know me as My gallery was getting too packed with photos that were pushing the art aside...so I've made another gallery for the photos. Anyone who has faved photos from my old gallery will have to re-fav them, since they will be deleted from the other gallery. Hopefully this will make the 2 galleries look nicer and better organized.
